History

Paris Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, a non-profit organization , was founded in 1955 and has been fostering goodwill between the hospital and community for 58 years. It has a membership of 125 volunteers come from all walks of life but come to volunteer with one common goal – to serve willingly and with commitment.

Congratulations for 30 Years of Service at Paris Regional!

During the many years the auxiliary has been in existence, opportunities for involvement have grown. There are very few areas within the hospital where auxiliary members are not lending a helping hand. They volunteer in the ICU waiting area, information desk, registration, on the floors helping out nursing staff, PrimeTime, accounting, human resources, radiology, the gift shops and snack bars, popcorn machine and many other areas.

Besides working in the hospital on a daily basis, volunteers are involved in many special activities during the year. Fundraisers included jewelry sale, book fairs, scrub sale and a bake sale.

Revenue made from the gift shop and snack bar, popcorn sales and many fundraisers have allowed the auxiliary to help sponsor the Prescription Medicine Assistance Program and remodeling of waiting rooms through Paris Regional Medical Center.

Paris Regional Medical Center Auxiliary members donated almost 34,000 hours of dedication to PRMC. They were honored during the year with a Christmas luncheon and the Auxiliary Awards Banquet held in Lewis Hall. They hold four general meetings a year with additional Auxiliary Board of Directors.

Officers are Judy Skidmore, president; Barbara Hill, 1st vice president; Peggy Parson, 2nd vice president; Shirley Brigham, Secretary; Ruth Ashmore, Ophelia Payne Treasurers; Bobbie Quisenberry, Historian; and Kay Kennedy, Parliamentarian.

“Volunteers are priceless and a precious part of Paris Regional Medical Center. Whether they are offering direct service to those in needs or assisting behind the scenes, they are an indispensable and unique asset, always ready to lend a hand with compassion, commitment and care.
