THE ISSUE: Having a local accredited chest pain center continues attracting patients from the region to receive medical care in Paris.
Paris Regional Medical Center attracts patients to the community from southeast Oklahoma and northeast Texas by focusing on the health care needs of the region.
Now people in the area have one more reason to choose to come to Paris to receive medical care: the hospital announced this morning it has been accredited as a chest pain center.
The accreditation achievement was a joint effort of the hospital staff, city of Paris dispatchers and Paris Emergency Medical Services, proving they can provide the highest quality of care for patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, the accrediting agency, said the hospital demonstrated expertise in many areas, including:
- Assessing, diagnosing and treating patients quickly
- Effectively treating patients with low risk for an acute heart attack with no assignable cause for the symptoms
- Continually seeking to improve processes and procedures
- Supporting community outreach programs to teach the public about seeking care if they have possible symptoms of a heart attack.
When someone displays the symptoms of a heart attack, quick diagnosis and treatment is necessary. As an accredited chest pain center, PRMC can provide even quicker times from diagnosis to treatment when a patient is having a coronary event. This increased response time saves lives.
Having a local accredited chest pain center means Paris residents can receive that faster treatment closer to home, and patients from the region will continue coming into our community to receive the quality health care they’ve come to expect from PRMC.
